The Hockinson Heights Elementary School’s elves have been hard at work creating holiday murals for the art contest at the 25th annual Winter Wonderland light show at Portland International Raceway.
The event runs Nov. 24-Dec. 26, and all proceeds benefit the Sunshine Division, which partners with the Portland Police Bureau to distribute food and clothing to Portlanders in need due to job loss, domestic crime, illness, fire or other disaster.
The HHES elves worked with their art teachers Nancy O’Neill-Bratt and Sonja Einerson, and parent Rebekah Cole, volunteering time after school and on a Saturday to paint two 4-foot by 8-foot murals. The painting by Lauren Nocciolo-Tugaw’s third grade class is called “Woodland Creature Wishes,” and the painting by Anna Hoffman’s fifth grade class is called “Holiday Dreams.”
You can view and vote on the holiday murals and online beginning Nov. 24, and visit the murals at the light show. The winning schools will receive money from the Sunshine Division for purchasing art-related supplies, projects or field trips.
