It’s all happening!
Hockinson Middle School will be open and ready to welcome our students as planned on Wednesday, Sept. 6!
As I write, 50 or more workers are installing furniture and fixtures in the main school building. We have people at the ready to clean up the dust and prepare classrooms, and our staff members are in full-on preparation mode for our first days in this beautiful new facility.
The east wing—including the band room, Career Technical Education classrooms and gymnasiums—will, as predicted, not be ready until sometime in October, so band and physical education classes will take place in the old Middle School facilities for the time being.
We are excited and amazed to be able to open HMS a year ahead of schedule and are extremely appreciative to Robinson Construction Co., which has been a true partner in this effort, literally squeezing six months’ worth of work into the past two.
The new HMS is a state-of-the-art facility that will open up new learning opportunities for the children of our community and, I believe, inspire them to pursue their dreams.
Our Middle School staff is eager to welcome your students and make them feel comfortable at the new Hockinson Middle School. This, of course, would be the case whether at the new school or the old. Caring for kids is something that only people can do—and we have all the right people in place.
