Longtime Hockinson community member Scott Swindell has taken his seat as the newest member of the Hockinson School Board of Directors.
For the past 23 years, Swindell has lived in Hockinson School District, where his wife, Lisa, was principal of the elementary school, and where his three daughters attended the schools. He chaired the school district’s levy committee for three successful campaigns, created the Hockinson Public Schools Foundation and served as a member of the Citizens Advisory Committee before becoming a school board member.
An attorney, Swindell is a member of the Washington and Oregon state bar associations, the Tax Section of the Washington State Bar, the Clark County and Multnomah County bar associations, and a member of the Southwest Washington Estate Planning Council. He serves on the Planned Giving Committee of the PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center Foundation and previously served on boards of directors for the Clark College Foundation’s Penguin Athletic Club, SWIFT and the Southwest Washington Medical Center Foundation. He also coached girls soccer for the Prairie Soccer Club for 15 years.
The Hockinson School Board unanimously selected Swindell to the District 5 position, which had been held by Katherine Davis, who resigned due her move out of the district at the end of January. Swindell was sworn in April 10 and will hold the position until the general election in November, when the District 5 seat is up for election.
