HMS received some big-time recognition…over the summer. Despite the awkward timing of this award, we are celebrating it now! HMS was one of only 21 schools across the state to be named as a “School on the Rise” by the Association of Washington School Principals (AWSP).
On May 16, over 600 Hockinson School District students and family members gathered in the HHS commons for the Launching Futures College and Career Fair event. The event brought together 94 representatives from local colleges, universities, trade schools, military, and career industries. This is part of a broader initiative to prepare students for Senior Launch Week, a week-long celebration packed with college and career readiness activities leading up to graduation day on June 7, 2024.
Sunday's Loyalty Days Parade in Long Beach, WA promises to be a memory for the HMS Marching Band and Flag Team. This parade, which started in 1950, is organized by the Veterans of Foreign Wars and is touted as the "longest consecutive running Loyalty commemoration in the nation." This year, it involves over 80 entries, including 24 school marching bands.
Amazing kids worked together to design two bulletin boards for the main HMS hallway this August!
HMS has a new position - and a new addition - in its main office this fall. Sid Slom will join the middle school as its Dean of Students.
