Below are results from the 2025 Community & Parent Perception Survey. Hockinson School District conducts this annual survey to measure public perceptions and continually improve its approach. This year, the survey also included questions to help guide the 2025-2030 strategic planning process. There were 256 respondents, and the majority of respondents were Hockinson School District parents.
Non-parent community outreach will continue to be an area of focus over the next year. Survey information was included in the HSD Round Up e-newsletter, which is now emailed to non-parent community members who sign up here. The survey link was also posted to the Hockinson School District Facebook page twice (April 23 and April 29). The posts were shared into the Hockinson, WA Facebook group and boosted on social media to reach more community members. Twenty-five non-parent community members filled out the survey.
Impression of Hockinson Schools
The majority of respondents (78.1%) reported an above average impression of Hockinson schools. This is an improvement compared to 70.4% last school year.
Academic Rigor
Ranking of academic rigor at Hockinson School District also improved this year compared to last year. On a scale of 1 to 5, 66.4% of respondents ranked academic rigor a 4 or 5 compared to 45.2% last school year.
Fiscal Responsibility
Respondents provided feedback on fiscal responsibility in Hockinson School District. This year, 64.8% of respondents rated fiscal responsibility in the HSD above average (4 or 5 out of 5) compared to 56.6% last year. Results are below.
School Culture
Perceptions of school culture in Hockinson School District also improved in 2024-25 compared to the 2023-24 school year. 77.7% of respondents ranked school culture above average (4 or 5 out of 5) in 2024-25 compared to 51.3% in 2023-24.
Community & Family Engagement
Community and family engagement rankings also improved from last school year. This year, 73% of respondents ranked family and community engagement above average compared to 68.7% last school year.
School Facility Maintenance
This school year, 78.5% of respondents ranked school facility maintenance above average compared to 56.6% in 2023-24.
Communications
In 2024-25, 69.9% of respondents ranked transparency in communications above average compared to 68.7% last school year.

83.6% of respondents agreed that Hockinson schools should be learning environments where students are supported to achieve their full potential.

84.8% of respondents agreed that Hockinson schools should be learning environments where students have access to a variety of Career & Technical Education (CTE), College in the High School (CiHS) and Advanced Placement (AP) opportunities.
84.4% of respondents agreed that Hockinson schools should be learning environments where students have access to a variety of arts, athletics, and extracurricular opportunities.
Empathetic
87.9% of respondents agreed that Hockinson schools should be learning environments where school culture is positive and students feel a sense of confidence and belonging.
Conclusion
Overall, the 2025 Community & Parent Perception Survey results reflect a positive trend across nearly all categories, with notable improvements in impressions of school culture, academic rigor, fiscal responsibility, and facility maintenance. While parent engagement remains strong, outreach to non-parent community members presents an opportunity for growth. Hockinson School District remains committed to continuous improvement, especially in broadening community engagement and maintaining transparent communication with all stakeholders. These results will help guide our efforts as we work to strengthen trust, performance, and partnerships throughout the district.
