Twenty-five older elementary and middle school students spent part of their summer building skills and confidence at the Construction Trades Camp hosted at Hockinson High School!
Made possible thanks to support from the Southwest Washington Contractors Association (SWCA), students gained hands-on experience pouring concrete, learning electrical basics, and building with wood. Participants practiced woodworking skills by creating cedar boxes, toolboxes, cutting boards and benches.
Students learned from CTE teachers Eirik Huset (Hockinson School District) and Brent Mansell (Washougal School District). Lunch was provided by C&E Rentals.
Now in its third year, this partnership continues to introduce students to a wide range of construction careers while helping them develop practical skills and confidence that will serve them well in the future. Similar camps were also held in La Center, Hockinson, Washougal, and Ridgefield schools this summer.
