I wanted to take a moment to let you know that some of you may have noticed a Sheriff's vehicle in our school's upper parking lot during parent pick-up this afternoon.
Please know that deputies were here to follow-up on an issue that was unrelated to school safety. While I know it is concerning to see a Sheriff presence on a school campus, there was no incident you need to be worried about.

We are getting some questions about whether the HSD is on a normal schedule and we want to confirm that all Hockinson schools are on a normal schedule today, 12/18.
2 Hr. Late Start
Today, Wednesday, Dec 17, the Hockinson School District is on a 2 hr. Late Start due to lack of power and road debris.
All bus routes will operate on a 2 hr late pick up schedule with no AM service for Cascadia Tech and AM Preschool.
We will update you should power not get restored in a timely manner.
All HHES buses will be running approximately 20 minutes late today Thursday, Dec. 11. We regret that transportation for a field trip fell behind schedule. This delay will likely impact all HSD bus riders K-12.
We will send out additional updates should these delays change or if there is any other news relating to this issue.

Hello HMS Families!
We wanted to share some exciting news with all of you. Over the break we were THRILLED to receive notification that HMS is the recipient of the AWSP/AWSL Culture Kick Off Award for the SECOND year in a row! We are beyond proud of HMS and the culture of belonging our students, staff, families, and community help us create. Receiving this award is evidence of the amazing culture being created at HMS. We could not do this without all us working together.
AWSP (Association of Washington School Principals) and AWSL (Association of Washington Student leaders) support schools all over Washington. Any school can apply for this award - there were 44 winners and only 8 schools were second time recipients. Hockinson Middle School and Hockinson High School were both given this award for the second year in a row. The award recognizes schools that launch the year with engaging assemblies, themes and fall kick off events. Schools that intentionally set the tone for belonging, community and success, and sustain that positive culture throughout the year by fostering collaboration between students and adults. These are all things that we all have been working on together for the past three years! When going through the process of nominating us for this award, the best part was that we could provide evidence based data and specific examples of how we are working to achieve this culture of belonging. It only takes one peek at our social media to see what an amazing place this is!
Thank you so much for your continued support, encouragement, and belief in us. We are so proud to be selected for this award and feel incredibly lucky to get to be part of this incredible community!
